Our maintainable weep hole filter and drainage system is ideal for relieving the hydrostatic water pressure that inevitably builds up behind concrete, sheet piling, and MSE retaining walls used for seawalls, bridge abutments, culverts and other earth retaining structures.
Improved Flow Rate and Maintenance Interval with Weep Hole Design
The conical design of our 4″ dia. maintainable weep hole filter gives 210% more filter fabric surface area than a 4″ dia. traditional weep hole. The increased surface area allows our filters to produce greater than 200%* additional water flow. The 4″ dia. weep hole filter also has 9 times the surface area of our 2.5″ dia. ABS filters and 1.5 times the surface area of the 3″ dia. units. As a result, the 4″ dia. units are the most versatile filter and can be used in almost any application.
Storms, sprinklers, waves, groundwater and other events can deposit large amounts of water behind a wall. It is important to drain the water before it causes damage. Our 4″ dia. weep hole filter can drain 20.79 gpm*.
Unlike other wall drainage systems, all JET Filter units are designed to be quickly and easily maintained. The time between weep hole maintenance depends on many variables such as backfill material and soil hydrology. The surface area of the filter cartridge plays a large role in the length of time units can go before needing cleaned. The 4″ dia. unit’s 26 in² surface area allows it to go longer between cleaning than our 3″ or 2.5″ dia. units. The 4″ dia. unit is a great choice for situations where long periods of time may go between maintenance.
Geotextile Filter Fabric
JET Filter System Maintainable weep hole component uses the highly rated Mirafi® Filter-weave FW 300 geotextile filter fabric in our standard products. This media maintains long-term flow rates in high gradient and dynamic conditions. With its removable inner cartridge, the filter can be changed and cleaned if needed, from the front side of the earth retaining structure without dredging from behind to replace the erosion control fabric. Other Mirafi FW series fabrics can be custom ordered.
